What’s going on at SBIC?
The 2020 SBIC opening meeting has been postponed.
Dear SBIC Members,
The spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 (formerly referred to as 2019 Novel Coronavirus or 2019-nCoV), has led to several governmental actions by the State, some of which affect the Sandy Burr Country Club and the Sandy Burr Inner Club. In particular, Governor Baker’s emergency order that limits gatherings to 25 people and prohibits on-premises consumption of food or drink at bars and restaurants, beginning on March 17 and effective through April 5, severely limits our ability to hold our Annual Meeting as we normally would, with lots of personal contact and maybe a drink or two.
As such, the SBIC 2020 Annual Meeting, which had been scheduled for April 5, has been postponed. A new date has not yet been set, as we will monitor events as they unfold, and then reschedule appropriately.
Despite the postponement of the Annual Meeting , membership dues can be paid either by mail or by using PayPal, instructions for both methods can be found here: https://sbicgolf.com/join-sbic/
The first tournament of the season is scheduled for Saturday, April 11. At this point in time, it is too early to speculate as to how the virus will affect the tournament schedule. Certainly, we will send out communications as we approach that date and update the website as well. Additionally, we will be sending out other SBIC-related information over the coming weeks (return of the Player’s Cup, new handicap formula, etc.), so stay tuned for those communications.
Lastly, don’t forget to take care of yourselves: social distancing by staying approximately six feet away from other people, avoiding large crowds and gatherings; and practicing good hygiene by washing hands, using hand sanitizer, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your inner elbow, and staying home if you are sick will help us all to get through this. We look forward to seeing a healthy membership in 2020!
